    Re: motors

I had a puller in mine.
I never noticed the batteries but I did destroy transmission gears left and right ... only after I upgraded the drive shafts which went like toothpicks before that.
At least 1 set of gears every 4 courses if not more.

Make sure you upgrade the gears to aluminum if steel still isn't available.
It wasn't when I looked last so I swapped out my FXR & puller and put in a mongoose with the aluminum gears. No problems since then.

    Re: motors

I have the goose now and I feel its lacking in the brake.
it has a tendency to roll just alittle when on very steep up/down hill situation.
    and I dont like it.
I really want it to hold its own no matter how steep.
especially on down hills like being offcamber on a steep downhill
droping into a gate. I want all the controle I can get. and I just dont feel it with the goose.

but the puller was just to much.
I really dont want to add to my c.g. with steal gears.
I have been running stock gears with my goose. and I feel like I'm
pretty hard on the truck already.

so puller is out. what else?
    anybody tried stump puller?
and doesnt holms make a 380 thats not a puller?

    Re: motors

    You mean the torquemaster mini?

You'll be disappointed with it IMO.
Have you considered dropping down in pinion size and going up in volts to get speed back? Or are you already on 3s?

A smaller pinion should (in theory) take away some of the leverage the drive train has on the motor.
May not be noticeable but maybe free to try if you have some lying around.

    Re: motors

I run a Trinity Cobalt 18 16turn motor. I run a 9 tooth pinion on it with a 2 cell lipo. More than ample torque and plenty of wheelspeed. In fact I have to dial my radio down to about 80% or it quickly becomes unmanageable. I did upgrade to AL gears and a MiniT slipper. Because I feel like 1 or 2 reverses out of a bind is alot cheaper than a 10 pt repair to replace tranny gears. Just my opinion though.

    Re: motors

I have the HH mini and havent noticed any draw backs yet. I have either a 9t or 12t pinion on it, just cant recall which. I have yet to see it stall or be able to bump up onto anything (due to lack of speed). Thats on 2s too, 3s should be here by friday so Im sure it will be even better.

I also have two of these http://myatomic.com/catalog/viewsku?sku ... 370p_motor. Real cheap and actually quicker than the HH torqmaster mini. With a 9t pinion it still seemed quicker and had plenty of torque from what I could tell on my backyard course. I have them as backup motors though, and if you remind me I will bring them to the next comp and give you one--no charge
